Ensuring that low- to moderate-income Long Islanders have an opportunity to achieve financial stability and independence will take a collaborative effort to develop and implement sustainable initiatives that foster short-term and long-term economic growth.
In 2006, HWCLI established the Long Island Earned Income Tax Credit Coalitions to convene leaders from community-based organizations, government agencies, educational institutions and businesses to develop strategies, financial supports, improve legislation, and services for underserved Long Islanders.
OUR WORK Through our collaboration, we develop strategies to ensure Long Islanders have a pathway to prosperity while fostering innovative approaches to economic stability. Our approach to achieving our mission includes:
* Harnessing public and private partnerships as vehicles to extend the reach and effectiveness of economic stability.
* Clearly identifying the barriers related to public policies and challenges that prevent households from progressing and gaining financial stability.
* Providing educational opportunities to organizations, businesses and the public regarding poverty reduction.
* Designing innovative, efficient strategies to serve as a catalyst for economic growth.
