The success of HWCLI has and always will be based on a vibrant, active, diverse membership. All nonprofit, individual and corporate members of the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island value and pledge to work together to:

Sustain innovative, coordinated, integrated, effective and efficient services.
Respond to the needs of Long Islanders, ensuring that the voice of the powerless are heard.
Advocate with and on behalf of all Long Islanders to ensure a pathway to economic stability and self-sufficiency.

It reminded me of when your mom tells you exactly where something is, but you look and somehow can’t find it. Then she comes over, looks in the exact same place, and there it is, right where she said it would be all along. It felt like magic!

My health insurance plan cancelled me at the end of May, and my agent, who had been receiving commissions for years, would not assist me. My town senior center social worker had also spent nearly 3 years trying to help me apply for Medicaid with no success. Both told me I would need to appear at a Social Security office in person, which was not possible since I no longer have a car. Thankfully, I was connected to the Health & Welfare Council of Long Island. I made the call, and in less than a week, my Facilitated Enroller, Jasmyn, was able to get me enrolled. Thanks to HWCLI this long nightmare is finally over. Jasmyn, was kind, efficient, and helped me get set up with Medicare/Medicaid in about 20 minutes. This is the greatest thing that has happened to me in many months. Thank you for helping seniors who may be alone, but can still care for themselves.
