Healthcare Facilitated Enroller (Bilingual; Spanish)

The Health and Welfare Council of Long Island (HWCLI) is a private, not for profit, health and human services planning, research/public education and advocacy organization that serves as the umbrella for public and non-profit agencies serving Long Island’s poor and vulnerable individuals and families.

HWCLI seeks energetic, passionate, and socially conscious individuals to support HWCLI’s mission by helping the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (ABD) populations learn about health insurance options, identify the best insurance option for them.

Responsibilities

  • Educate potential clients about the aged, blind, and disabled (ABD) program and medical assistance programs such as Medicaid and Medicare Savings Program (MSP) that may be available to them under the Local DSS in Nassau and Suffolk County.
  • Assist enrollees in completing the Medicaid and MSP application/ re-certification application by collecting applicable documents needed and by entering appropriate data on the application.
  • Accurately complete and submit application for the Aged, Blind and Disabled population to local DSS in Nassau and Suffolk County.
  • Maintain all records to ensure confidentiality, privacy, and security requirements.
  • Complete all necessary training, retraining and comply with certification requirements of the Aged, Blind, and Disabled program.
  • Attend any regularly scheduled meetings/webinars for program information, updates, ongoing training, and technical support.
  • Perform any other duties that are relevant to achieving the goals of the agency.
  • Assist Managers and Senior Staff on healthcare projects, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Healthcare Access team on client engagement, application troubleshooting, enrollment specifications and advocacy.
  • Conduct community outreach to potential enrollees, community partners and attend outreach events throughout Long Island
  • Travel throughout Long Island is required.

Qualifications, Required Skills, and Experience

  • Strong commitment to social justice and HWCLI’s mission.
  • Demonstrated background in client-facing public service positions.
  • Strong commitment to collaboration; self-starter
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
  • Comfortability with in-depth research to find solutions and referral opportunities for complex client needs.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and usage of online platforms.
  • Flexibility to comfortably interchange between detailed client service, research, outreach, and data collection.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including ability to pay close attention to details.
  • Bilingual strongly preferred.
  • NYS license and access to a car is a MUST.
  • HS Diploma or GED required; Associate/bachelor’s degree in human services or related field strongly preferred.

SALARY range: $40,000-$45,000 – based on experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 8-hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Occasionally on weekends
