2020 Census Intern

110 Walt Whitman Road, Suite 101, Huntington Station, NY 11746

    1. Type: Internship (for credit)
    2. Timeframe: Spring 2020
    3. Description: The 2020 Census is right around the corner, and HWCLI is hard at work with our Complete Count Committees working to ensure that every Long Islander knows the importance of being counted next year. The decennial Census affects all of the building blocks of healthy communities – including funding for education, Medicaid, roads & infrastructure, and more – plus it will dictate how many Congressional representatives New York sends to Washington DC. We only have one chance to make sure that our region is fairly and accurately represented in the 2020 Census.
    4. Key Responsibilities: HWCLI is seeking a 2020 Census team intern to assist with all elements of coordinating the Complete Count Committee. The Census Team Intern will be responsible for:
      • Preparing for meetings and trainings of the Complete Count subcommittees
      • Attending outreach events across Long Island to raise awareness of the Census
      • Crafting social media posts & outreach materials
      • Monitoring news updates about the upcoming Census
      • Proposing key outlets for Census outreach
    5. Requirements:
      • Candidates must be enrolled in a program for credit
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
      • The ideal candidate will have a passion for civic engagement and communications.
