Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk, Inc. and
The Health & Welfare Council of Long Island
are pleased to announce
The Unmet Needs Roundtable is Up and Running, Ready to Hear Your Cases!
In light of the economic crisis, thousands of Long Islanders have lost their jobs, lost income and their ability to make ends meet. Many have exhausted all avenues of safety net support.
The Unmet Needs Roundtable is re-established to serve these Suffolk County residents in crisis. The role of The Unmet Needs Roundtable is to secure cash assistance to address the unmet needs of disaster victims so that they may regain self-sufficiency and recover from the impact of this economic disaster.
The Unmet Needs Roundtable will help to facilitate long-term recovery by supporting victim’s recovery plans. Despite their name, Unmet Needs Roundtables are meant to allow for a shift from emergency relief unmet needs to RECOVERY. Eligible clients work with a case manager to create their own long-term recovery plan before any unmet needs are funded.
The Unmet Needs Roundtable is a confidential meeting of agency representatives to discuss how recovery plans for victims can be supported. All of the assistance through the unmet needs roundtable is need-based and provided on a case-by-case basis. When appropriate, financial assistance is given to support client’s basic disaster-caused needs toward their sustainable recovery plan.
The re-establishment of the Unmet Needs Roundtable will provide tremendous support to those most in need during this financial crisis. The criteria for case presentations are:
- Individual(s) MUST be a resident of Suffolk County
- Individual(s) MUST be enrolled in a long-term case management program
- Individual(s) MUST have household incomes at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty level
- ALL other possible resources have been EXHAUSTED
Case managers interested in presenting at the Unmet Needs Roundtable MUST attend a case presentation training.
